Transflective TFT Displays for Outdoor Use

A transflective TFT is a type of screen that combines transmissive and reflective properties. In simpler terms, it works well in both low-light and bright-light environments. The display uses backlighting for visibility in darker conditions and reflects ambient light to enhance readability in bright sunlight.

 

This dual functionality sets transflective displays apart from traditional LCDs, which often struggle with visibility under direct sunlight or require heavy backlighting that drains the battery.

 

Transflective displays are ideal for the screens on eBikes, ATVs and handheld instruments which are often used in diverse environments, ranging from shaded urban streets to areas of direct sunlight.  Transflective screens use ambient light to improve visibility. This makes them easily readable even under harsh sunlight.
